The Leadership Hub
Leadership Rhode Island’s 2022 - 2026 Strategic Plan

How can you plan for anything in the midst of uncertainty?

The most effective organizations can’t afford not to plan, especially in times of uncertainty. The inquiry process alone is a product. Deeply rooted in our values, we meditate on where we’ve been, where we are, and where we ought to go in the context of our current and most predictable future circumstances.

Following a national search, Rhode Island’s Spartina Consulting was trusted to steward a highly collaborative and inclusive planning process. Throughout the summer of 2021, our Board of Governors, staff, key volunteers, alumni, and members from the community discussed the value that LRI provides to Rhode Island, and what they imagine our future could look like.

What emerged were five areas of focus which will guide our mission of being a source of positive transformation in Rhode Island, and beyond.

Develop Leaders and Careers

We will thoughtfully steward Rhode Island’s most valuable resource – our people – discovering and developing talented servant leaders to thrive in our workplaces and communities.

Activate Our Alumni Network

We will convene and harness the power of a diverse, trusted, and statewide alumni network to envision Rhode Island’s future, influence key decisions, and move the needle around shared priorities that strengthen our state. We will engage and activate alumni members to make high-impact contributions to each other and our organization.

Nurture Belonging & Engagement

We will ensure that our programs, policies, and practices demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion — nurturing trusting relationships that facilitate access and a sense of belonging to LRI. More broadly, we will champion Rhode Island — creating opportunities for place attachment and investment in the Ocean State.

Expand Training & Consulting

We will expand the scale, scope and reach of our strengths-based training programs and consulting services, supporting the effectiveness and growth of Rhode Island organizations and empowering people to thrive in their workplaces and communities.

Amplify Community Leadership Nationally

We will facilitate meaningful connections among the 700,000 + alumni of Community Leadership Programs nationwide, fostering civil discourse in local communities and amplifying our collective national voice towards lasting change.
